On the political spectrum

It’s election time in Victoria. I’ve registered for a postal vote. I felt like I was out of the election loop so today, I visited The Age to see what was going on. When the hell did T3 get sold? There was a G20 Summit in Melbourne? Another series of Australian Idol?

Brad, a fellow Aussie at my college, sent me this link — Australian Politics Test. I’d be interested in your results, if you’re comfortable sharing.

Here are mine: joanium’s results

As I expected, really, although I’m surprised they picked it so accurately.

I just registered for a postal vote too. I wonder if they’ll deliver forms to my motel room in Dubbo?

Also, who on earth are People Power party?

I was being a bit flippant. I didn’t get much further than the photo on its home page. Representing the masses of unrepresented (?) I think is its take.

Hahaha… sorry. Being in England must have made my ‘flippancy detector’ a bit rusty.

Well, the elderly and the disabled are definitely underrepresented.

Speaking of the underrepresented, I’ve been thinking lately that it would be kind of useful to have a ‘Future Agency’. This Agency would represent the future generations and its input must be sought for every significant policy change. I’m still thinking about how it would work but I think it’ll have to be immune to the pressures of the election cycle.

I’ve heard that the former owner of the media commentary website Crikey.com.au, Stephen Mayne, is running for People Power.

Question is, do you trust journalists more or less than you trust politicians?

Too bad, I can’t vote. 🙁 So far since I became 18, I still haven’t voted in Thailand yet, and we already had two elections; with a possibility of another one soon.
