I was half listening to the TV on the weekend and this is what I heard on the British show, ‘What not to wear‘:
You don’t make the clothes look bad — the clothes make you look bad.
I was flabbergasted. Of course! Here I was, feeling inadequate because I felt fat and ugly, but it’s all the clothes’ fault!
The truth of such a simple statement bowled me over.
Bowled you over? Like you are a bowling pin? Bowling pins are generally not fat; rather quite skinny, I’ve always found. Thus you are not fat. Thus you should not feel fat. How about that for logic. lol.
Very wise indeed! 🙂
Hmm. But who chooses to put the clothes on?
I’d like to have something to blame when I look bad, but on the flip side, I think I’d like to take the credit when I look good!
Oh, I don’t always wear clothes based on how good they are. I have my favourites (I think) but frequently, I’ll wear something that I like less because I have it, therefore I should. It would be a waste, otherwise.
I guess it’s different when you don’t buy your own clothes — I wouldn’t buy something that I didn’t like!
(I need new shoes…)
