Suicide cells

I’m back from Tassie. I had a wonderful time cooking with friends, kayaking, caving, hiking and sitting in the car as others chauffered me around the state. I’ll blog properly soon but right now, I really need to get to bed.

I will say, though, that I’m sunburned. It’s the first time. Joel tells me that we should all be thankful for our sunburn. Skin cells mutate under excessive exposure to UV light. To prevent themselves from replicating and spreading the damaged DNA (forming a cancer), the skin cells commit suicide. They sacrifice themselves for us! Now that I know this, I feel bad for neglecting my skin. There, there. I’ll look after you from now on…
