I remember being introduced to the smilicon about, oh, seven years ago. I marvelled at the wit of turning the page (or my head) to the side and seeing a face. Wikipedia has some interesting things to say about smileys/emoticons/smilicons.
I find smilicons essential for my web communications. It’s because I smile so much in real life. There is potential for misunderstanding and blandness without smilicons and exclaimation marks. I do, however, overuse them if I am not careful.
I would now like to introduce some friends to you.
🙂 | Damjan’s smilicon. The classic smiley. It’s closest to human proportions but the face seems a bit long for me… |
=) | Mary’s smilicon. Very cheerful and cartoony. It looks like it’s had an all-nighter. |
:o) | James’s smilicon. I like the nose. I like round things. |
🙂 | My smilicon. I like it because it looks like its smile is so big, it has reached its ears. |
Good night! 🙂
(^_^)V pickle’s smilicon doing a victory/peace sign.
