Haha, I just made an ass of myself.

I was in the dance studio of our university dance club. I noticed a lady walk in, stand at the side of the room inspecting our dance class timetable on the blackboard. Being the enthusiastic committee member that I am, I walked up to her and said, “Hi! Would you like to join the lesson?” I gestured to the beginner latin class members, who were struggling with the jive basic.

She was taken aback. “Erm… maybe later.” She looked embarrassed. “I’m here to see the dance teacher.”

“Okay, sure!”

Later, I found out that she was the owner of Ritz Dance Club, one of the biggest dance studios in Melbourne. She teaches latin dancing to professional competitors — and I had asked if she wanted to join the beginner latin class!
