Economic Left/Right: -2.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92
See my score graphically.
I am an Liberal Leftist, which means that I believe in central planning (to some extent) and the value of the individual. Other Liberal Leftists include Gandhi, the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela. Sounds like I’m in good company but I honestly thought I’d be closer to the economic right. I love the elegance of markets! In fact, while studying for my economics exam on Wednesday, I giggle at the witticisms in my economics text book!
I am the opposite of George W. Bush, John Howard and Ariel Sharon, who advocate authoritarianism and deregulated market economies.
I would like to know how you score on the Political Compass. Have a go?
P.S. Ooh! Ooh! Check out where your favourite composers are on the Political Compass!
Hmmm… that’s an extremely long quiz. (-_-!!)
Anyhow, here are my results.
Economic Left/Right: -1.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.46
Whatever that means….
Oh oh, want to also comment that, as you know, I love your mblog entries before, now this is even better. More to read, which is a good thing of course. (^_^)
I will be creating a blog really soon… will definitely let you know. Meanwhile, I will be checking out your blogger daily.
Luv, Pickle
ok, so I’m -4.1 in favour of the economic left, which makes me more of a hippy than you Joan, but I’m -3.2 in favour of libertarianism, which makes me more of a nazi than you. I guess that’s because i said people with some disabilities shoudn’t be allowed to reproduce.
mr joel
Hooray! I haven’t seen you in a while mr. hippy joel. -3.2 is not Nazi, but you sure are an economic village boy. It must have been on the time you spent in third world countries!
Yeah, boy, there were some tough choices there. I have complexes about corporations and how much to trust them. I can’t stop thinking, “But corporations are just people and people are nice!”
Joan, you silly girl. Corporations are not people. Corporations are systems designed to allow nasty things to happen without anyone taking responsibility. You see, the plebs carry out evil acts, but its not their fault ’cause the boss ordered it. And the boss isn’t responsible, because their duty is to deliver profits to the shareholder, and the shareholder doesn’t feel guilty because they just look at the share price without reading the annual report. So everybody is blissfully guilty free and everyone is happy (oh, except for the third world countries they rape)
Hmm. I never thought of it that way. It makes sense. Oh, dear, this explains a lot.
*pondering*
I hope that when I own a corporation that I will still think of the people I’m having an impact on. But this isn’t a good sign — I’m already a shareholder in a few companies and I don’t even look at the annual reports or vote.
I’m a liberal leftist too: -2.62, -2.82.
I wasn’t very extreme, probably because I don’t have very strong convictions about many things (people have described me as very “meh” — there were only a few questions there that really fired me up).
Why are we all liberal leftists? Do you think this is a generational trend? A location one? Does it have to do with our age? Do people change when they get older? Is it a reaction against something? Against our right-authoritarian leaders? Are we all just trying to be “rebellious”? Is grass on the other side of the fence always greener?
Er, I’d better get back to studying for my exam.
Vera
Well, for one thing, I like you all and maybe I only like kind, considerate, intelligent people. I mean, erm, Liberal Leftists.
It seems to me that most people on the internet are left leaning. Just randomly surfing blogs, I come across many supporters of John Kerry, the Australian Labor Party and Greens. It could be that be that:
1. People who blog and like to write are intelligent.
2. People who are intelligent are liberal.
Or if we want to be cynical:
1. People who blog probably have broadband internet.
2. People with broadband internet are rich.
3. People who are rich can afford to be expansive and critical of the “ordinary citizens”. They’re out of touch.
I like the first explanation better!
Mmm… grass…
Well, I guess I also qualify for Liberal Leftist.
In fact, with scores Economic -5.38 and Social -4.41,
I’m more liberal-left than most of you guys. Now, *that* I would never have guessed.
Of course, I prefer my own explanation, which is that I’m too naive about global political issues, and thus made bad decisions… (that makes me the type of voter you *don’t* want on the electoral role, right?)
